87 740 Turbo TPS 700 1987

I recently discover my 87 745T throttle position switch has no red/white Wide Open Throttle wire connected to it. There's no red/white lead coming out of the wiring harness where the orange and brown TPS wires emmerge, and not even a metal connector in the switch plug in the number three position. Shouldn't there be a WOT lead on this switch or does the Turbo 740 not have that TPS connection for some reason?

Yes, the turbo doesn't use the WOT contacts.

Hi guys,

I'm pretty sure my '91 745T's TPS has 3 wires connected to it and I was under the impression that on of the wires is for WOT. I forget what color it is, but I think it's marked "3" on the plug. I reciently installed Turbo + out of an '87 745T. As the Turbo + wiring diagram showed, my Vo mechanic and I tapped a black and white wire into what I was supposed to be the WOT wire for the TPS. BUT, my Turbo + won't work and we're not sure why. We've done some simple checks and so far everything seems to be functioning. Maybe my problem lies with the TPS contact? I'm confused if the turbo doesn't use WOT contacts from the TPS.

The '87 and '91 use different fuel injection systems; neither uses the WOT contacts.

Hi mcduck,

Yeah, an '87 has LH 2.2 and my '91 has LH 2.4 right? If neither uses the WOT contacts then what is that Turbo + wire connecting to on the TPS? I noticed on a '90 745T that was equipped with Turbo + that there was no wire connecting Turbo + to the TPS (at least not one that I could find). I wish someone could tell me why and what the difference is.
