First accident since new....need help with parts 200 1986

My baby was in its first accident since she was new; my son rear ended a Honda Civic. Nobody was injured at all. Interestingly, our bumper wound up under the bumper of the honda and our front end was damaged more than the honda...our grill and the headlights were pushed in. It looked to me like the honda just needs a new rear bumper cover, hopefully not more. I intend to pay for the Honda repair and fix my car myself so I will not have to report it to our insurance company. I spent this morning taking apart the front end of my 240 and working on straighting out the sheet metal as best as I could. The bumper itself is scratched but not really bent. It looks like the headlights can be salvaged but the black plastic backplates that they are attached to are both in many pieces and need to be replaced. Also, the right front directional/parking light assembly was crushed. If anyone has these parts or has access to them, please respond and I will purchase them from you since pick and pull volvo parts are hard to find here. The grill is damaged but salvageable, but the plastic clips that holds it in were sheared and need to be replaced also.
Any help and advice in finding these parts would be appreciated.

As always, Thanks,
Michael

First accident since new....need help with parts 200 1986

Michael,
BC (earlier post) and I are going to my local junkyard this friday. we can check on some of your stuff. this yard has just about all the parts you need, but i'm not sure how much i can get for it. i'll check it out.

as said earlier, ebay may have some of the best prices around. i'll try to get a parts list and how much the yard is charging.

i don't charge extra for the help or parts. i'm not interested in it.

regards,

Mike, can you use the black plastic frame of the headlights?

Were you able to find turn signals? I think ebay would be a better place than my junkyard--he prices these things way too high.

but i have the black plastic housing.

let me know--sorry to reply late.

byron golden

Byron,

Thanks for your help.
I did find all of the parts I needed through ebay(turnsignal and Grill) and another board member for the black backing frames. I put the car back together this past Friday.
Thanks again,
Michael

Hello!

I would recommend you to visit some local salvage yard. There the parts can be much cheaper than on eBay. For example, my car had a significant damage of front right side. I found everything (fender, lamp, hood, grill, bumper, front panel) in nice condition and of my color, and it costed me some $200.00...
Good luck!

Sincerely,
Dmitriy.

In a rear end crash, it is common for the cars to be nose diving due to braking, so the rear car's bumper will go under the front car's bumper. So the rear car will often take more damage.

Your car's front end parts are common between 1986-1993, assuming a US car.

If your US DOT aero headlamps end up needing replacement, and ECE headlamps are legal in your area, you may want to replace them with the 7" round conversion kit from a Volvo Truck dealer, plus 7" round ECE headlamps. The conversion kit is expensive, but if you have to replace the expensive headlamps anyway, you might as well replace them with a setup that provides better lighting.

Those body parts are 1986-93. Head for eBay. More later........................nmi 200 1986
