740 wagon rear upper brake light bulb changing? 700

Hi--

I need to change the bulb on the upper rear brake light on my 87 745Ti. I can't seem to find a way to get cover off! I've looked at both my manual and the 700 faq. The 700 faq refers to changing this bulb on a 740 sedan. The wagon assembly has no slot to fish a scewdriver into. I'm LOST! Any one have experience doing this? Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have done this numerous times. Use a screwdriver to gently pry just enough of the plastic panel inside of the rear of the wagon (it is the same color as the interior, black, tan, burgundy, or whatever your interior is)to get a grip on it and gently (again) pull it out. Then you need to use your wrist and hand to twist up into the spot where the bulb assembly is and screw it out. I had a hard time getting it back in the first couple of times I did it but it is doable.

The cover pulls straight back from window, it is held with a clip on each side. Clips more to the top of the cover. Hard to get a good grip on it because of shape. Fun to get back on sometimes also. Good luck, rcs
