      IGNITION MODULE 900 1993

Thanks Tom, you are the man. Last week, my 940 NA would not start after sitting the weekend. before that, I installed a new starter, it started fine for about 4 days, put in some gas before the weekend. Monday attempted to start car, nothing. All electrical worked, tried 3 times to start, nothing. Cleaned throttle body, checked coil, plug wires. Car started, but was hesitating badly at idle and when pushing on gas pedal. This week, on/off starting problems, but no hesitation. it's beginning to piss me off, love the car though. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

        IGNITION MODULE 900 1993

        Hi-

I'm going to vote for the fuel pump. I had the same issues with my 91 740 (rex/regina) with 150k. I had trouble diagnosing the problem because I could hear the pump running in the tank. If the pump is running, that's not the problem, right? Wrong. Finally had to take it to my mech, he diagnosed the incredibly low output from the pump (wouldn't even register on the meter), replaced the pump and the car runs like new.

I'd check your pump(s) output before anything else. The low output was triggering codes on the OBD all of which have gone away now.

Don't do what I did: fix all the stuff I could do myself first.

        Good luck!

The original answer I gave was for the “power amplifier”. Rex ign systems do not have them. The “ignition module” is the brains for the system and difficult to diagnose.

Check for spark. Listen for the fuel pump(s), make sure the T-belt didn’t jump…and the list goes on.
