Has anyone replaced the black plastic breather box under the flame trap on this engine? Diagram from Volvo indicates 3 sealing o-rings. Other sources say it just takes 1. It has a long tube attached that goes to the bottom of the pan which is different from otherdiagrams that I've seen for B230f.

    it is different than an 8v. it uses 1 oring, like the 8v. you must pull the intake off because of the long pipe you see. good luck, chuck.

      The intake is not so bad to pull off . You only have to loosen the lower bolts a few turns,not remove them. The intake bolt holes are open on the bottom so you can then lift it off. Makes it easy to put back also. Have new gasket ready.

      Thanks for the reply chuck. Volvo showed me a diagram that had 3 o-rings. I have the breather box loose to get at the egr valve bracket bolts. Don't really want to pull the manifold but don't know if the box wll go back down without leaking as I can't replace orings around the long tube without removing the whole thing.
