Flatten Head...

ive just flatten my 240GL's Head using 6mm Glassplate and Valvegrinding paste, and it turned out just great and i saved like 35$ by doing this my self, but this car is just for (*)fun, so now iam putting all the parts together tomorrow, and its just going to run great i hope but what the hell i paid like 100$ for it...

(*)
[The Info]
well its just me thats a crappy translator becouse in danish "Markraes" will be if its directly translated into english it will be "Fieldracing",

[The meaning] if u you are a farmer or live on a farm and u have an old car u you cant get plates on, but still can run, you can use it to race around the fields after the farmer is done harvesting the crops.

Gustav, you have a good attitude! :-)

Have fun the the fields. This is how my brothers and I learned to drive, and to pull cars out of mud, and to jack up heavy things no matter where they were... In addition, we had a frozen lake to race around.

No girls, though. That was the trade-off. Either wild country or wild (relatively!) living? ;-)

We've done something similar to flatten the warp in carburetor castings...a sheet of emery cloth on top of glass, kept wetted with kerosene, and the carburetor parts slid in a circular motion until there was a nice, even contact all around the surface. I've never tried this with a cylinder head. I hope it works well for you.

How "unflat" was it? If it has a small general bow, you can normally pull
    it flat with the headbolts.

How large a field do you have to "field race" in? Look out for those fences!

i got a area about 1.5km X 1.0km +/- 250m something like that, i got it to run about 80km/h its not much but great fun eneyways. And it wasent unflat there was just a little lower than normal so i grinded like 0.15mm off i think... but it doesent run so good, but i can that fix that i hope....
