1993 Radio doesn't make sound until at least 30 minutes after turn on???? 200

The radio in my 1993 245 needs at least 30 minutes after it is turned on to make noise.

Anybody have a clue what this is all about?

When you say your radio takes "30 minutes after it is turned on to make noise," do you mean that it operates normally after that? Also what model radio do you have? TD-613? CR-718?

If it's not the ignition switch (wiggle the key after the car is started), then it's internal with the radio. Most likely a worn switch or cold solder. In that case, just get a new head unit from Crutchfield.

Sure, probably FCC delay in case any bad words are said or the superbowl skank takes off her shirt for a broadcast, again. Actually, radio and simultaneous blower cut out are ignition switch. If you have no blower anomalies, then I guess that is not it. I think a new radio is just routine maintenance for 240s, so bad are the OEM units.

I just bought an 88 240. I have a similar problem but my radio works intermittently, the volume that is. I've had it out and all wiring and grounds are good. I sprayed contact cleaner wherever I could near the volume control (while unit was out of dashboard). It seemed to help for a few days, but now is hit and miss again with the volume. I've been told by mechanic friend that the problem is probably within the radio itself. I just ordered a new one from Crutchfield.com. $100. includes cd player. What the heck -- ya gotta treat yourself once in a while!
