My annoying experience with Expressautoparts.com 200 1981

At the end of June I ordered a pickup coil, clutch kit and rear main seal from expressautoparts.com because they were so cheap. I only really needed the pickup coil right away, but got free shipping with over $100, so I ordered the clutch which I'll need eventually.

I sent an e-mail a couple of weeks later wondering where the parts were. The confirmation e-mail I got when I ordered said they would ship in 3 to 5 days.

I got an automated response saying something was on backorder. That was annoying.

So after a month and no notification that the parts were shipped, and another inquiry resulting in an identical "part on backorder" e-mail, I cancelled my order.

After a couple of weeks and no refund on my card, I sent another e-mail. I got an automated response saying to allow up to 30 days for my refund.

45 day, no refund. 60 days, no refund. Every week or two I sent emails, finally sending one expressing my extreme disappointment and incredulity at how they could run a business this, but this one I sent to every e-mail address I could find on their website, including management, orders, customer service, and one for stockholders. Finally I got my credit over two months later.

That was annoying. I just love it when you buy something and the money is gone in seconds from your account, but when an order is cancelled, it's like pulling teeth to get it back.

I wouldn't recommend buying from this company. I had previously bought a part that came promptly, but this incident has soured me on expressautoparts.com.

    Hello,

Surprise, surprise... someone on the internet trying to rip you off. What stings even more is that they have a nice fancy website to do it in.

Oh well, I just checked some of their pricing, tie rod ends, clutches, tune up stuff, and it's all as cheap if not cheaper at FCP Groton. For those of you who have yet to deal with them, they as good as you can get. Prompt, polite service, good prices, good shipping (no brokerage fees for Canadian customers) and from what I have seen they are good at looking after people in the back end as well.

sorry for the crummy experience.... for general tune up stuff I use FCPgroton.com. ipdusa.com for specialized stuff. and bortonvolvo.com if I ever need genuine volvo parts. I have had excellent luck with all of these.

I also had problems with the fine folks at ExpressAutoParts. Same story. I only placed the order with them because they were the only online source at the time that claimed to have everything in stock that I needed. Two weeks and no parts, then no customer service and refund took over a month. I even got their finance manager's phone number from my credit card company, and never got anything but a recording. Crooks. Never again. The only thing Express about them is the way they make your money dissapear.
I have had excellent service from FCP Groton ,and eEuroparts.com. eEuroparts does not have everything, but what they have is priced right, and free shipping if the order is over $39. They ship fast, and their customer service people took care of two order problems I had right away with no guff, and made it right.

They are not connected with Whitney/Warshawsky, by chance?
Sounds like my experience with them.
    Rusty at RPR is trustworthy.
Most ebay vendors are better than THAT!

I have never had bad experiences with JC Whitney, if that's who you're talking about.

If anything is on backorder I get a letter explaining it, and the estimated delivery date.

        That is who.
When I was in Panama with an APO address they would send me (and hundreds of
others) catalogs by surface mail so they arrived maybe 2 months after they
were mailed. On several occasions I would make international phone calls to
them to ask about some part they showed in their catalog and the only
information I could get (after being on hold for 20 minutes or more at $1-3
per minute) was that I could either order the item or not order it, that was
all the info they had. (can't make toll-free calls to the US from Panama)
Also on several occasions I would need one small item desperately and they were
the only source of which I was aware. I would add several items that I didn't
really need to make it sufficient to be a valid order and specify PRIORITY MAIL.
Two months later I would receive a package from them containing all the things
I didn't really need but NOT the item that I did need, sent surface (boat) mail.
On one occasion I phoned them and they said I could return the order for THEIR
credit at MY expense but could make no prediction as to whether or when the
item I really needed would be available, and they could not give me a refund
as they were in receivership. Fortunately I had charged on a credit card so
I shipped the unneeded items back to them Priority Mail and contacted my credit
card carrier with the full details. It took a couple months but I finally got
a letter from them saying "We have been forced to make a credit to your VISA
        account #umpty-ump."
It was aircleaners I got from them that put a 5/16" hex nut into #2 cylinder
of the big bore engine I had in my 122 wagon, that destroyed the block.

I'm pretty sure I am not the only one that has had problems like this. On many
of these occasions it was my FRIENDS at IPD who bailed me out.
