side mirrors P1800 '61 1800

Any experts/opionions on side mirrors
I have a '61 P1800 RHD that does not have side mirrors
There seems to be two kinds , a flat one and a bullet shaped one.
Promotion material shows early models without side mirrors
The question is, were side mirror/s standard on the model, and if so which shape?

Craig,

As the other answers already state all PV's/120's and P1800's wasn't fitted with mirror from factory. Mirrors where not "standard" but something you ordered besides the car itself. For your 1961 P1800, it would be "most original" to put on Lucas mirrors.

If you want a "non-objective" oppinion:
Don't go for those bullet shaped! To me they seem too big for the car.. (and a bit too "british-racing-car"... and Volvo never claimed the 1800 to be a racing car, but a GT car!)

My 1967 1800S, the Lucas mirrors are "unisex", so can be fitted on both sides.
I think that these mirrors are a good match to the car-design/lines!...

This is how I did it:

I'd agree that there seems to be variation on the matter... I don't think it matters greatly, as long as you get one of the styles originally used.

Yours being a right side drive car, sort of British... could be that mirrors mounted far out on the front fenders might be appropriate. From what I've heard from Jaguar folks, the standard placement for them would be directly above the front wheel hub.

For original style Lucas mirrors, or the bullet mirrors, check British parts suppliers such as Moss Motors.

What I have been told is that side view mirrors were put on at the dealer
so they differ in style and placement.
those bullet ones are cool
