940 losses power intermittently 900 1991

My 1991 940 turbo intermittently (about once every week) loses acceleration power. When you accelerate on a hill, etc. the car will actually slow down and acts like it is getting too much petro. If I pull off the road, stop and start the car, it will then run fine again. thanks!

Turning the car off and back on must be resetting something but have no idea.

    Dear jjb,

Good p.m. This is a not-very-educated guess. Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? It is mounted at the front end of the fuel rail. There is a procedure in the FAQs (under FEATURES, above) for doing this.

Have you checked for OBD codes, using the reader units (small black boxes) mounted in front of the driver-side strut tower? If not, please report any codes, that you find there.

That will give you an analytical direction, in which to go.

    Yours faithfully,

    spook
