Recently purchased a new 3547847 white-band reference/rpm sensor to replace a yellow-band sensor with dried/split sheathing (91 240). The new sensor is not from Volvo but is an OEM unit (Bougicord) and appears identical to the old unit, except for the white band instead of a yellow one. The problem is that the engine will crank but won't start with the new sensor in place. Tried swapping the old sensor for the new (3 times) and the engine consistently won't start with the new sensor and runs fine with the old sensor. Are there any tests for the new sensor? Maybe this one needs to be sent back.
