Will 80/100 watt 9004's work in plastic headlights 200 1991

Or will it melt them?
Has anyone tried a bulb upgrade. I know Piaa may work but they are too expensive for me. I found some NOKYA bulbs rated at 80/100 which would seem perfect, but has anyone any experience with this wattage as too overheating in the bulb sockets?

    Overwattage risks melting things.

Standard wattage high lumen bulbs may be a better idea. E.g. Sylvania Xtravision, Philips Vision Plus, or Osram (not Sylvania) Silverstar.

If still unsatisfactory, conversion to ECE aero lamps or ECE 7" round lamps may help.

I've put the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs in my Volvos and there is a noticeable improvement. Not as much as with E-code lights but still an improvemnt. They run $40 to $50 a pair unless you find them on sale.

There's a good chance of melting the socket, the housing, the wiring, the headlight switch, and/or the headlight relay.

In other words, don't. The plastic headlights are crappy any which way you put it - even if you addressed most of the potential problems (new headlight harness with relays, a way to vent the heat), you'd just be putting out more crappy lighting.

E-codes or 7" swap is the best way to get better lighting IMHO. Run a search for more details.
