A/C Drain Tube Problems, Any Solutions 200

I think the A/C drain tube is causing my wet carpets on the passengers side. My daughter got a splash of water on her feet (she was sitting in the passenger's seat) while going around a turn with her brother driving. I removed and inspected the rubber tube. It is not clogged. However, near the bottom of the tube, it looks flattened and it really doesn't look like it connects into the bottom of the vehicle very well. The split portion of the tube after the flange seems very short to me. I suspect that water on a hot humid day is backing up and slopping out instead of through the tube.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of problem? Any good solutions?

Thanks,

The hole in the bottom of the condensate pan also gets clogged. Cut and past the link below for directions to fix the problem.

It's about a once in every 5-10 year fix. Do not cut the flattened end off of the tube, it is there to prevent insect type critters from crawling up there and gumming things up even worse. Water will find its way through the end as is.

Good luck.

Dave,

Great web site. Thanks. I'll give your solution a try. I think it just might do the trick.

I think that you're gonna have to open up the hose in order to accomodate the large amount of condensation. What happens is that the condensation can't drain out faster than it accumulates. It spills out onto the carpeting. After you've cleaned out the tube and tray...I cut off the inside rubber slit..the outer one still intact. This way, the drain tube can drain more efficiently. I keep the car in the garage, so I'm not too concerned with critters crawling up it. It's worked fine ever since.
