stalling at a stop, part 2 700

I have what I think is the same problem as in the previos post. I have a 1990 740 GL automatic. As I let off the gas and coast (no brake applied), everything is fine for about 3 seconds, then the RPMs drop. It happens at all speeds, but when slowing to a stop, the RPMs drop so low that the engine dies. At freeway speeds, the RPMs stay up, which I guess is due to the wheels speed sustaining the engine revs.

The problem is more pronounced when cold. The engine idles and accelerates very well, tranny fluid is clean and proper level. Couldn't find any obvious hoses disconnected, but I'm not Mr. Goodwrench.

Would the recommendations in the previous post apply here as well? Thanks!

Or if you are really unlucky, a cracked head is leaking coolant into your cylinders. Have you been going through some coolant lately? Take a look.

Yes it would. Your problem is either (or both) a jammed Idle Air Control (IAC) or the Throttle Position Switch (TPS) not turning 'ON' when your foot is off the accelerator.
