940 Cold Start Difficulties solved 900

Spook - have solved my cold starting difficulties. It turned out to be the Brake Servo that was leaking and hence the vaccuum was leaking.

Starts like a charm now. THx for your advice.

Rgds.

940 Cold Start Difficulties solved 900

Dear buzzvic,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. One learns something new every day!

While it a vacuum leak can lead to "hard starts", it isn't obvious to me, why such a leak would make some starts harder than others. One would think that a lack of vacuum, caused by a leak, would be a constant problem.

Glad you're now rolling smoothly.

Yours faithfully,

spook

940 Cold Start Difficulties solved 900

Dear Spook,

Yeah, initially I was puzzled as well. But according to senior mechanics who have been with the authorised Volvo Distributor in Malaysia for many years, it appears to be a common problem with the 940s in Malaysia. I'm assuming maybe the servo seal contracts somewhat when it is cold and is okay when it is warm.

I'm glad the problem appears to be solved. Hopefully it stays that way.

Rgds.
