ABS light 700

Does anybody have any ideas why the ABS warning light would come on with no obvious problem in the brake system? This is on a 1989 740 Turbo wagon.

    The light comes on to warn you that the ABS system is not working.
    Very common cause for this is dirty front wheel sensors. They are magnetic and collect chips and grit. Remove and clean them and see if the fault clears itself.
