motor mounts and sputtering on deceleration '86 245 200

Finally tackled the motor mount job, not too bad of an outcome. Very smooth running 245 now. I did it by jacking the car on jackstands, and using the Volvo scissor jack under the alternator and AC comp. brackets to lift the enging to one side or the other. I did need a brick under the jack to get it high enough. The ratcheting 12mm box wrench would have only helped on one bolt, but I made do without. The 17mm bottom bolts were a pain to get loose though. I'm happy for doing another job myself. Brickboard is the best!!!

Okay, here's the question part:
The car sputters on deceleration. The car speeds up fine, but when letting off the throttle it sputters, not quite a backfire. I've had to replace some of the under hood wiring, (it's an 86...) and I haven't rewired the entire thing yet, or replaced the entire harness. Does anybody has any ideas to help my poor wagon run a little better. I'm only getting 18~19 mpg out of her and gas is expensive. I've done the tune up fairly recently, synthetic oil, filters etc. Could I be having a problem with the AMM or any other engine sensors? How would I check them? Being the '86, I don't think it has any codes the reference, or if it does, how to tell?

Thanks,
Justin
