The long interior trim between the dashboard and glive box keeps cracking. It is the long piece thats about 1/4 in thick. I was thinking- I saw a 780 at the junkyward the other day. Would the 780 wood trim interior fit in my 88 740 gle. I haven't actually taken it apart yet. I figure there are just a couple of screw back there and whatnot.
Basically what i want to know is:
1. Can I replace my 740 trim with that of a 780?
2. How does the 740 and 780 trim come out (the flat piece above the glove box)?
3. Is the 780 trim refinishable? If so, is it varnish or something else?

THANKS
MIKE

Does anyone here know a place to order interior wood trim for the old 740's. I've looked, but the big internet players no longer stock this car.

Why not make your own. Couldn't be to difficult to use a piece of nice oak or other nice wood and varnish, sand and polish. Glue it on or use velcro and adhesive.

Will check the junkyard this weekend to see how it is mounted. There is an 89 745 I removed a few pieces from last spring that may still be there. I know the piece you are speaking of....probably black in the car I am thinking of....
