timing belt problem on 91 200

I have posted on replacing my timing belt and got some great help so thanks but,
I am trying to line up the crankshaft pulley mark and the rear timing belt cover dimple on it at the top as shown in the digrams. Problem is when it is lined up the distributer rotor is lined up with #2 cylinder. what do i do?

    timing belt problem on 91 200

    The timimg mark on the crankshaft position is on the engine behind the crankshaft sprocket. You have to remove the lower cover. I use a small mirror to look down there and get it right.

    If the crankshaft pulley mark if off, the harmonic balancer rubber may be getting loose and you should replace that pulley before it lets go.

    You have to line up the intermediate shaft timing marks as well. Assuming you haven't pulled the distributor the rotor should be pointing over a small notch on the distributor.

    you have to use the marks on the timing gear. the crank pulley is wrong. they tend to rotate around the hub when they get old. good luck, chuck.
