A ok everything went well S90-V90

Have taken her out for the first test drive and I'm grinning. Dewfpo I gots more power. With the way the intake cam was retarded 1 1/2 teeth from where it sould have been, now it seems I have better throttle responce.
Took the alternator out while I did this and had a new regulator and brushes installed, guy said the brushes were on their last legs, new pulleys through out and she's smooth as silk. Very rewarding ,aaaggg my acking back.
Thanks again everyone
Poolman

Im glad to hear everything went well.
Question: Was the timing off before you changed the belt and and you brought it back into spec or did you change the timing out of spec on purpose to gain more power?

I didn't know that the belt could be off more than a tooth before the engine would destruct. Even at that, it would be very noticeable I've been told.

Yea, I would have thought there would have been a problem with it being off that far too. But low and behold when I took her down the marks on the cam for the exhaust side were right on the money. The marks for the intake were 1 1/2 theeth retarded from where they should have been. or to the left of the indicator on the cam sheild. I guess the thing wasn't getting a full charge of gass to the cylinders but enough for it to run seemingly ok. I would get 25, 26
on the highway the way it was but was less than 20 in the city.
After getting this thing back on time, testing her out ,then putting my cam covers back on, I took off for a highway test drive.
There is a long grade that when ever I travel the car has to go back to third gear to climb to the top when operating the cruise control.
Last night whent up that grade in cruise and never left high gear, just kept cruising.
        Thanks

Learned something, my day is complete! S90-V90

When you were discussing things I was sure someone in the past had your pulley off the cam and didn't line up the marks putting it back. I didn't think it would run very well if it was that far off.

Evidently, being off a tooth is not a disaster but the change in performance is noticable.

With the retarded intake, you were probably pushing a little of the air/fuel charge back out of the cylinder before the valve closed. With the correct setting you may find you can burn more fuel/mile IF you use the new-found power.

I'd be interested to know what other things you notice.

    Poolman,

Thanks for letting us know. As long as your grinning, it makes all the effort worth while.

    Enjoy.
