Dear nvs,
Good p.m. and may this find you well. The cluster is held in by:
(a) a black aluminum (aluminium) bezel, in the sides of which there are two slots
(c) four screws, the heads of which are exposed, by the removal of the bezel.
Because the bezel is aluminum, it is robust. You should insert the tip of a screwdriver into the slot, and press back the spring clip. Once you've pushed the spring clip backwards, pull on the screwdriver's shank, to pull the bezel towards you. When the bezel disengages from the clip, you can then remove the entire bezel.
Remove the four screws. Then, grip the edge of the cluster, and pull it - slooowly and gently - towards you. You'll find it useful to put a broad-blade putty knife at the bottom of the cluster, to ease its movement over metal clips at the bottom of the opening.
Once the cluster is past those clips, continue to pull gently, until there's enough room to get your hand behind the cluster. You see a thick wire bundle.
Because it will have been folded there for years, it will have taken a "set". Use your hand to help unfold it, as you gently and slowly pull the cluster towards you. When the bundle has been completely unfolded, start to disengage the connectors, from the back of the cluster. It is usually better to start from the left side (closest to the driver's door) and work towards the right side of the cluster (closest to the center console).
Hope this helps.
Yours faithfully,
spook
