i have a 1990 760 turbo that smokes at idle. at 15000 revs and above it runs perfect.as soon as the revs drop below this i get loads of blue smoke . i have cleaned the breather and related hoses .can anybody help please

    Most likely turbo seals. 700 1990

    Yes, it could be other things, but nine times out of ten it's the turbo.

    Probably from running the engine above 15,000 rpm.

    That means it is sucking oil at high idle manifold vacuum. Suspects: valve stem oil seals, non-functioning breather system, possibly worn rings. Have you done a compression test?

      thanks steve no i hav/nt done a compression test but i will. the spark plugs are clean .no sign of oil fouling .i soaked the breather box in diesel overnight . the vacume hose was clogged solid so i renewed it. not sure if problem is engine related / turbo related / breather related . any advice thanks
