        Sorry, Colin, but "whit" as in an ellipted version of "not a whit" - i.e. "no idea" is correct usage; "having a wit" could not have been intended.

        Then there are the politicians who comb the graveyard for names under which
        to vote absentee....
        Too bad the military no longer has "priority induction" which they had in the
        early 60s when I was in the Army reserve. It was for those who didn't meet
        their reserve obligation.
