this is off topic, but there seems to be more expertise here than on the newer... 1800

...volvo forums.(but i do have an 1800).
... the blue border around the 'a/c' switch is blinking on my '90 760 turbo wagon.
.... the blinking is apparently an a/c fault indication. the dealer had replaced the headliner just prior to the sale. he said there is an a/c sensor near the dome light.so the blinking may indicate a faulty sensor. the blinking was apparently caused by disconnecting and reconnecting the sensor in the process of replacing the headliner....
its a 60 mile drive to take it back for him to look at it. but he said he was trying to contact a few dearers and other volvo specialists to get a suggestion. if he gets an answer, he can give me instructions over the phone, hopefully. the a/c seems to be functional...
...
sooo...anybody here got any suggestions?
tia, flaps

Check this out::

http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/HeatingAirConditioning.htm#ECCClimateUnitDiagnosticCodes

It's the 700/900 FAQ section that gives the trouble codes. Your dealer probably didn't make the connection for the ambient temp sensor in the cabin.

I'm really in deep water here, BUT:

I've got a Volvo original "Servicehandbok" for 740 '90-models, with wirring-diagram or so, maybe this can't be of any help but:

It seems that there is 3 sensors, "pressure guards" -one for low pressure, contact when 17 bar, high pressure, contact when 23 bar and then a "cut-out" sensor when pressure reach 29 bar.
I can't right here and now translate "headliner" (?) - but could it be that the pressure in the AC-system is incorrect? -or someone switched the wirring for the sensors?..

Unfortunately there is no "fault - diagnose" diagram in the manual.

thanks for the help (there were no responses on the 700 forum)... i went to the 1800

700 faq and figured out the a/c fail codes after a little screwing around.
looks like the sensor near the dome light, as expected, and also the sensor on the dash speaker unless i didn't shine a bright enough light on it....(fwiw, two fail: codes 131 and 161)
... thanks again, gents.
