fuel gauge needle 700 1992

My wife ran out of gas driving the 760 Volovo station wagon. After I filled the tank up, the fuel gauge needle did not move. It is still showing that it is empty. The warning light is not on, but the needle still shows empty. What can I do? Thanks

Mine sticks whenever the humidity is high and in Memphis that's alot! A fingernail flick in front of the temp gauge brings up the fuel gauge. Never a problem when humidity is low!

This is from a past post about a 240 gauge: misspellings and all. Maybe it will at least give you some ideas.

Could be your gage, probably the fuel sender, even more likely, the float is filled with fuel. you can check by grounding the sender wire in the trunk. it is located under the carpet on the hump, drivers side. at the disconnect there will be three wires. brown=gound, yellow or yellow/red= prepump. the other is either brown or black, can't remember for sure, this will be the one that you ground while the key is on. grounding will make the gage go full tank. if so, bad sender or float. if not, bad gage
