dog smell 200 1993

I've got a heck of a slobbery dog smell in my "new" 240. I've tried spraying Febreze odor eliminator (standard Walmart purchase) and it's helped a bit but certainly hasn't eliminated it. Any ideas? Thanks!

once upon a time i worked as a custodian, and we had a product manufactured by a company called rebel-yell, it was called p-eliminator, it was an enzyme based product that consumed the bacteria that caused oders. one other post mentioned a similar product. if this is still available it doesn leave any residual bad oders, but if i used any enzyme based oder eliminators i would still plan on occaisional
apolstery cleaning that will remove residue buildups.

My 'dogmobile' has been host to several of my Great Pyrenees, one of the most slobbering dogs there is short of a St Bernard or mastiff. I have good luck with Fabreeze, but use a whole bottle on the seats and carpets, AFTER I hand scrub them with a product called Blue Magic Upholstery and spot cleaner. Then close up the car for at least a day.

you might spray the seats with the stuff you use to clean up dog pee on the carpet. It acts by biological action and really works well on any kind of bio mess, which may be causing the smell. I've even used it to clean up the back seat after a kid barfed on it. It doesn't stain or leave a smell.

All the others sound good...ammonia might smell worse than the slobery dog though...tough smells I always try vannilla extract on a hand full of paper towels...don't be stingy with it you might want to buy your own rather than use the wifes...(or at least be sure to tell her you used it) put the towels in a small bowl of some sort and really soak them...close the car up over nite and see

I've seen this clear the smell from big chemical tankers over nite...

Go to Sam's Club and get a jug of Odoban - and spray the interior with that. You probably won't be able to be in the car with the windows up for about a day, but it's worth it. Odoban is an industrial strength deodorizer that is used by kennels, vets, etc. It's about $10 for a gallon and it will last you forever.

lol, I fell for you 100%!!! Everytime my puppy rode in the 245 she got sick, so even though it was always in her crate which ALWAYS got hosed out after a ride, my wagon REAKED of puppy puke! Not to mention the wet swimming-dog smell. I've had a lot of luck with a spray version of Oxy Clean made for cleaning carpets. Takes a lot of the smell out. Overnight when you park it, pour a small amount of Murphy's Oil Soap or Spic'n'Span floor cleaner in a rubbermaid dish. Somehow, it absorbs all the stinky particles in the air. On top of everything, I"m a light smoker so I keep a air freshener stuck under the glove box. Somehow, my car smeels 'linen fresh' all the time!
      Good luck!

I was once told that household ammonia in an aluminum roasting pan will even remove SKUNK odor .... a friend had a skunk come into their back entry way through the HUGE Doggy door they have for their BORZOI ... doggone skunk got spooked and sprayed the back entry ... I was told that they poured the ammonia into the aluminum roasting pan and set it in the entry overnight and the next morning the smell was completely gone ..... but the liquid in the pan had turned black ....
