Fuel Mileage 200

Greetings,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on improving the fuel milage on 240's besides selling them and buying a Honda. Just kidding, I mean besides running a new oxygen sensor, air filter and rest of the tune up parts. Oh, and also having the timing set correctly and tire air pressure correct. My mileage is about the same in all of our 240's, but I was just wondering if anyone was using any type of tricks I'm not aware of. Thank You!

I'm only averageing about 21mph for my driving and it's probably about 70% highway speed i.e 60-70mph. New air filter, dist cap, rotor, plugs, wires, completly flushed cooling system, and correct air pressure in tires. Any ideas?

Well, personally I think 240s are not very fuel efficient when doing a lot of stop and go. If you can hear your fuel pump running rather loud and you have an unusual amount of power, you might check your fuel pressure and change the fuel pressure regulator. You might try a new oxygen sensor and check your timing.

Well, what are you getting? How bad do you want it to be better?

I had a '90 244/M47.

70mph, car full of stuff, normal tire inflation: 28mpg
55mph, clean car, 40psi: 35mpg

Same trip, same day, same gas.

The single biggest effect on gas mileage is speed. I get 30 mpg at 65 mph on the highway.
