Airbags 700

Would it be possible to use the passanger airbag in a 940 and retrofit it into my 88 744 TI? I would like to do this if possible and I was thinking that all you would have to do (this is relative of course, and I haven't really worked on these systems) is hook it up to be activated when the driver side is activated. Possible? Worth the effort?

Thanks,
Eamon

If airbags were realy all they are cracked up to be, they would have them in racecars, but they dont.
You could save time and money installing a 5pt harness system. Don't forget, cops hate racing belts in LA, so you better leave the stock belt in place as well.

I did find a novel use for airbags today.
After you cut the deployed passenger airbag free of the dash(it is much bigger than the driver side), it makes a great sack for carying your junkyard trasures.

This is a terrible idea.

Airbags deploy with lethal force. Without properly designing and installing an application-specific device, you are running the risk of seriously injuring or even killing an occupant of the vehicle.

Further, airbags are designed to deploy only in certain circumstances. They are intended to deploy when the occupants are in a certain location in the vehicle, with particular forces being applied to them, and being held in place by the seat belts.

Although airbags may help prevent certain types of injuries, there's no dispute that seat belts save lives. Just ensure your passengers always wear their seat belts, and in a Volvo, they're as safe as they're going to get.
