Heated Mirrors Both Out 900 1994

A couple of days ago both the driver and passenger heated mirror function went out. The car has had to be parked outside for a couple weeks due to a painting project and I've been using the defroster every morning to help clear the moisture. The rear defroster still works. These all work off of the same 30A fuse which of course is still OK.

I suspect a relay but not much info is in the owners manual, Haynes manual, or web that I could find. I removed the fuse/relay holder from the dash and called 3 dealers in the area. One said that the part # was 9148300. The other 2 parts departments said there was no listing for a heated mirror relay. I could not see any relay with that part # installed.

Is there a relay? Could it be the switch on the dash that controls both the mirrors and the rear defroster? Both lights come on and the timer delay still switches the right light off after 10 minutes or so.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Steve

Dear Steve,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. The timer relay is built into the switch, that controls both the heated rear window and the heater mirrors (Volvo TP 3904202, Wiring Diagrams, 940, 1994). Because the built-in relay has failed, the switch unit needs to be replaced. You likely can get a replacement at a salvage yard, for small money.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

spook

Thanks spook,

A switch with built-in relay sounds logical. I will begin my search......

I appreciate you looking up the information.

Steve
