turbo gauge on non turbo engine 200 1987

Is it possible to hook up a turbo gauge on a non turbo engine to act as a fuel economy gauge?? or just for fun...

Yea mine is hooked to the intake manifold by an insert I used in a pluged intake port.. Used a barbed nipple and ran hose through the extra opening above the brake pedal area on the firewall.. just look around the firewall drivers side, there is usually an extra opening that has been sealed with a plate..and i also saw the post about using the gauge as a pressure gauge of the cooling system.. They attached it to a Tee inline with the hose going to the recovery bottle, i think.. do a search on it, I may be off here but its late and I am typing all this backwards just for practice. :))Max

Absolutely. It will only read in the left (vacuum) half of the gauge, but it will be accurate as a tool for improving or monitoring throttle/ fuel economy.

The gauge reads vacuum on the left or black part of the scale, and good engine vacuum (20" Hg or so) pulls mine down almost to the peg. The yellow part of the scale is boost, and my stock 82 Turbo only pushes it up to about 3/4 of the yellow, or about 1:00 position- hopefully more soon as I add an intercooler.

All you need is a vacuum tee coming from the intake manifold somewhere. The turbos use small hose clamps for theirs because the vacuum lines see boost as well.

No issues with connecting or mounting it- the hardest part is probably getting the instrument light to work right.

      Hey Rob,

Looks like you're missing some boost! My old 244t zipped all the way to the edge of the red every time. Time to adjust that wastegate...

Sure, it will only read on the vacumme side but it will work...just "Tee" it into any vacumme line. I'm pretty sure any way.
