Turbo inhancment 900

Has anyone boosted pressure on their 940's? What about waste gate upgrades? I'm looking for a few more HP out of my baby.

Yes you can, the later model Volvos have the mitabitchi turbo which unlike the old Garret do not have the adjustable rod on the waste gate valve. So you will have to modify the rod or go with a in-line accssory contro unit. Whatever you do you will have to be carefull of your air to fuel ratio so as to not melt your pistons.

I used a g-valve (purchased from www.dawesdevices.com). There was a very large improvement, especially in spool up time. From the factory the signal going to the wastegate is unregulated, so the wastegate opens early and gradually. The g-valve only sends a signal to the wastegate when target boost pressure is reached. Even if you were to use the g-valve and run stock boost you'd notice a nice difference. I'm running about 12psi, and the car feels very quick. I ran a 15.3 at the drag strip also, which wasnt too shabby.

As long as your engine is in good shape, you can get a few more ponies by adding a G-valve. Nothing magic about it, simple installation, a little fiddly to get it adjusted correctly, you WILL need an accurate air-fuel meter to measure O2 in the exhaust for proper adjustment. You can do it all for under $100. It results in quicker turbo spool-up and higher boost in return for decreased fuel economy.

Take a look at www.turbobricks.com

940T have small turbos, probably good for a maximum of about 225 hp, which is fine because the fuel injectors are good for only about 215 hp worth of fuel at a safe air fuel ratio. Stock boost is about 7 psi, which produces about 160 hp. Factory Turbo + cars ran 11 psi and were rated at 28 more hp, or 188 hp. There is enough fuel for a little more boost -- maybe another 3-4 psi.

This is if your car is in perfect tune and you run premium gas. Not all 9+ year old cars are in perfect tune. Injectors spray poorly, spark plugs or cap and rotor are old, the converter is partially clogged, carbon has built up on the valves, the valve stem seals or valve guides leak oil, etc.
