stupid friend = expensive hood replacement 200

last night my not-very-intelligent friend decides he'll do the hollywood-style slide across my hood, leaving dents for both elbows, and his hip, where he slammed into it. I took it to two autobody places today and the cheapest quoted me 1100 bucks for the new hood and painting. there's too much damage to bondo it I guess. Even if I found another hood, the painting for it would be more than 500. Anybody have a '90 240 silver hood in good condition?

A 'buddy' of mine did that to my 84 Rabbit a few years ago... 200

he tried sliding across my hood in the middle of a canadian winter. Left a nice sized dip in my hood. I tried to push it out, but to no avail it was hopeless, sicne it was done with the weather soo cold outside.

I later told him how pi$$ed I was that he did that, he was sorry, but since I had already sold the car, I was able to let byegones be bygones.

...still kinda cheeses me off when I think about it...awe well, I hope his hot fiancee leaves him once they get married!!!!

...but I'm not bitter or anythign either

:P

Location: Anchorage, AK. 200

Check the profile, folks.

For its location, it's understandable for the high cost (which IMHO your friend ought to pay the bill on). Such said, you may want to get a quote from Volvo & Saab Auto Dismantlers on how much to ship one that's preferably the same color as your's. It could still come out less than having it done locally.

Don't beleive it, I have a friend who works in a body shop, and when they had to quote some repairs to a rolls they discovered that the bumpers alone are $20,000 each.

I didn't like the hood on my car, cos the paitwork was crap. I got a nice one from the yard for $50.

I really don't see how a hood can cost that much, all they'd do is weld on a new skin then spray it up.

Handcuff him to the tow loop in the rear. Then continue to drive the
car normally. When he pays up, undo the handcuffs.

Hmm, I had the fenders, hood and trunk painted for $650. Shop around. I would think that you could get a hood from the yard for a coulple hundred bucks tops. Then again it looks like it should be your frinds bill.
