Chrome paint for grill touchup? 200

Anyone know where this can be bought? My grill has some blemishes in the chrome finish.

Thanks.

"Bare-Metal Foil": I never tried this on anything else but the plastic kits that the poduct was designed for, but why shouldn't it work on your grill? If it is just a matter of covering some small scratches? Of course, you would have to seal it with clear paint to protect it. Have a look here:

It really looks like real chrome when used on kits.

I like Max's advice though, or was it the Rolling Stones: Paint It Black. This was in fact the original look of the European GLT, so 'pimping' has very little to do with it:

      Thanks, Erling! Very useful info.

I think the black trim on the black GLT looks unbelievably cool. I'm just not sure how it would look on white. Plus, I don't want the job to look amateurish, with brush strokes visible. (Removing the grill and trim to spraypaint it is beyond my skill level.)

I've already decided that when my 2001 paint job wears out in a few years, Hilda is going to be black--even though she has a blue interior.

I thought I would see if you are still reading this post of yours.. I painted my grill flat black and it looks real mean with the charcole flip flop paint on the body,,I did not paint the other trim around the lights or anywhere else for that matter..If I remember corrrectly there was a black grill on one of the models,, check the pic library for some shots of different grills

Thanks, Max. I haven't decided yet what I'll do. I actually kind of like the stock appearance; I'm a little old to totally "pimp my ride" like some guys. I also don't know if I'd like the flat black trim with my white paint, though I do like it with the darker colors.

BTW--LED dash? Where? How? That's pretty wild.

Yeah, either Home Depot or Lowes got the stuff...Chrome Spray paint. Or you can paint the grill all flat black. I did it and it looks dialed.

You're not going to get the same shiny factory finished chrome from a spray can. The so called "chrome paint" is about as shiny as aluminum. If that's what you're after, it'll suffice.

To duplicate the factory finish, it'll need to be stripped and sent out to have the coating vapor deposited.

Personally, I'd just paint it black. :)

Thanks, Kane. I may do that. However... 200

...if I blacken the grill, I have to do that to the other chrome trim--at least around the front headlights/signals--if it's going to match. Sounds like a big job.

Have you done this? If so, did you use matte black or semigloss?

        Chrome tape 200

Many decorative craft shops carry chrome tape in 1.25 and 2.25 in widths, If you spray 3M spray adhesive on first and then apply the tape using a plastic spatula with a foam face as a burnishing tool (gentley though)and spray clear coat on top no one will ever know the truth...

Stuff costs $5 a roll last time I looked.

Stainless steel tape is also available for redoing fridge and stove trim from many appliance parts houses.

Interesting solution! I just may give this a shot.

I'm not sure what a spatula with a foam face is, though. Is this a regular spatula you've glued a piece of foam to? I mean, if it's made with foam attached, I don't see how it would work as a spatula.

Also, where do you buy clear coat? And is it brush-on or spray?

          Thanks!
