trunk seal weatherstrip 120-130

Trying to track down bulk trunk weatherstrip material for my 122 sedan. Though I'm familiar with places like Resoration Specialties and JC Whitney, nobody has old Volvo style material, it's usually just American cars and VW's. Any idea if another automaker used a similar style weatherstrip, that will work perfectly fine in my Amazon?

Below are inked stampings I made of the stuff currently in my car. Actually what I have already is in really nice shape, but there is about a 3 inch gap/ lack of coverage at the very bottom center of trunk. Maybe I should just try to find 3 or 4 inches of weatherstrip from a junker to fill in the empty space....

Thanks for previous advice regarding trunk seal, how to remove glue, and how to reapply. We glued my slightly short (by 4 inches), excellent condition used seal back on with the 3m product.

The tiny 4 inch gap in weatherstrip coverage is bugging me, does anybody have a nice condition, 4 or 5 inch piece of the correct trunk seal weatherstrip, they would be willing to part with? I'll trade my www.brickboard.com bumpersticker for a nice piece of the proper trunkseal (see photo below)

Swedish Treasures also stocks a pretty good supply of vintage Volvo bits such as trunk, door and window seals. very nice folks to deal with.

It's not that expensive to still locate and buy the original Volvo OEM product. You can buy this from any of the aftermarket Volvo stores; my favorite is Vintage Import Parts at http://www.vintageimparts.com/. I noticed that Olof has a 15% reduction, along with the difference between the Canadian and American dollars and you'll be getting this for almost nothing! My experience is to remove the old gasket and glue entirely, using lacquer thinner and a Scotch Brite pad. Take it down to the paint, then clean the rubber mating surface and apply 3M tube adhesive (get the professional quality). Remember to have the joint on the bottom of the trunk lid, to avoid any water leaks. Good luck.

      Ditto on all that.

Read the directions on the 3M stuff -- you apply it to both car and gasket and let it set up for a bit before installing the seal. Then it's on for good.

Thanks for the tips guys. Where is the best/cheapest place to find the 3M tube glue? Is this stuff brush or spread-on, or spray?

It's in a tube, black and yellow box if I recall. Get the better professional quality 3M glue at any auto body supply shop. The glue color is yellowinsh and sticky as hell! Although 3M does sell another glue for weather stripping (black in color) I found that it is not as good, unless you want to repeat the process in a year's time! Didn't think so since this is a tedious job, right Phil? Make sure both surfaces are clean before applying the glue. Even cleaning the rubber beforehand will improve the effectiveness and longevity of this job. Good luck fellows!

Great... thanks again for the tips again. What do you use for cleaning the rubber before application also?

This is timely advice, as the rainy season is just about to descend on us in Oregon here...!

I looked at the actual tube/box and it's called 3M Super Weatherstriping Adhesive, #80012 (Made in Canada, eh!) They suugest using the 3M pre-cleaner or roughen both of the surfaces before applying the glue. Wait until it's tacky but realize, once stuck, it's hard to remove the weather stipping. I think I used ethyl alcohol or acetone to clean the rubber beforehand. Did the trick for me!
