REPLACEMENT KEYS 200

1993 VOLVO 240: WE REC'D ONLY ONE KEY WHEN WE RECENTLY PURCH THIS 240, THE KEY ONLY WORKS IF PLACED IN WITH A CERTAIN SIDE UP. I WOULD LIKE TO REPLACE THE KEY BUT THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO MATCH THE VIN# WITH THE KEY CODE TO MAKE A NEW SET OF KEYS. WHAT ALTERNATIVES DO I HAVE, CAN I GO A DIFFERENT ROUTE TO SECURE NEW KEYS.
THANKS
BILL

You can buy Volvo blank keys on Ebay, if you want to have a hardware store cut you a key, and still have it look factory.

Enuff with the CAPS.. Get a good dealer and they will duplicate the key..As said, a good locksmith can cure the problem..i have also seen the same as others with having a new key cut at the local hardware,, they seem to work for no reason,,When you put the key in the ignition mark the side that is up and have that side duplicated..

I was given only one key also, I went to my local hardware store and they made a copy for one dollar. New works well. Try making a copy at your local hardware
store and see if their copy works well.

That is very unusual that the dealership couldn't get you a set of keys.

Maybe you should try another dealer.

If not that, take your key to a local locksmith and see what they can do.

Good luck!
