Best Routing of wire to back of wagon

I just put a second 12V outlet in my 745t ('90) in the footwell by the driver.
*(See below if you are interested it was easy.)

Now I want to run it back to the wayback - the door sills are the obvious route **but what about getting through the second seat and trim of the cargo area**? Ive seen a posting of how to remove that left side (my working side) panel and it sounds like a royale pain....

Any suggestions?

*(I did it by running a new power line off the POS + terminal and through the handy grommet my favorite Swedes put behind the left strut tower on the firewall. I got the lead at the parts store alredy rigged up with a ring terminal and a bladed fuse terminal (like a '90 745's fuses) within 3 inches of the start of the lead. This approcah leaves the original wirning harness intact, but is however unswitched. Search Brickboard for "12V socket" also for prior discussions.)

Routing the wire and putting 12v power socket in rear of 745

Never Mind - I did it!

Had to remove rear door sill of course, but beyond that I just loosened? or rather bent the left rear cargo wall panel to see where the wire was coming out. Beacause I was using 12 guage wire, I was able to snake it thru over the wheel arch with the regular wire harness, and it came out down by fuel neck, more or less, with a little help pushing it along when I could see it from under the wall panel.

BTW, you have(?) to dismount the B-pillar trim to effectively remove the front door sill trim - the harness goes under the belt retractor here and it's not easily snakeable!

Good place to flush mount the 12v socket on a 745- the oval plastic panel covering the taillight bulbs' access. Drill hole and buy one with a lid - make Outback owners envious! If you change your mind that part is $5 at the wrecker. Im doing it especially for my ski boot warmer!

Mind where you drill the oval piece for proper clearance of the socket when installed. Hope this helps someone!

Cool I hope this works for you - I found I did not have to loosen the panel that rides under the seat back latch but I loosened it anyway - and as it says in the FAQ (cargo wall panel) LEAVE ONE OF THE THREE LATCH SCREWS IN - THE TOP ONE if you don't it looks like the whole backing plate will fall down behind the sheet metal - sheet! You shouldn't have to mess with this at all, but if you get curious...

I considered doing it kinda like you said - on a lead that could be snaked out from below the deck, and also considered drilling the carpeted (on mine) wall panel for the flush mount - then it was such a pain to remove that and also the fuel neck is right there ... The hole for the socket fixture was 7/8" btw. My fixture came with a metal bracket which I swapped out for the plastic panel giving a flush mount.
