89 760 turbo wagon 700 1989

I changed a dead battery today and installed a new battery with no trouble. The interior lights came on, as did the dinging of the door open, etc. When the key was turned to the start position, the car went dead.

Does anyone know where an in-line fuse is located for this model? Or what else has killed all the electrical?

Many thanks!

JohnR

I agree with the previous response. I have an 89 740 turbo wagon, and the exact same thing happened. I sanded the terminals and the clamps and it was fine.

Sounds like there's just corrosion on the inside of one of the battery terminals. Also, its possible to tighten the cable clamp nuts up against each other, rather than providing any clamping force on the terminal post, so check that they really are tight.
Unless the car has some kind of aftermarket alarm or security feature, there's no reason for this other than a dead battery or bad connection.
