Vibration after changing rear transmission mount. Need ideas for fix ! 200 1993

Hello: I have a 1993, 240 Wagon, 184,00 miles, B230F Engine, AW70 Automatic Transmission.

Recently I replaced my front control arm bushings and sway bar bushings. Rebalanced the tires and rotated them. Got a front end alignment. Drove the car and everything was fine.

THEN.....I replaced the rear transmission mount. The one that connects to the rear crossmember at the rear of the transmission. Since doing this I have had a noticable vibration while driving. It feels like it coming from the drivetrain

QUESTION?

1. Is there some sort of alignment on this rear bushing? The holes in the bracket that mounts the bushing to the rear of the transmission does appear to be slotted horizontally.

2. What else could be causing this?

3. Weak/bad engine mounts (especially the passanger side one)?

Any assistance would be gretly appreciated. Thanks.....Mr. Tool

Vibration after changing rear transmission mount. Need ideas for fix ! 200 1993

I recently replaced the rear mount on my '92 740 Turbo Wagon (may be different for sedan). Before replacement, I experienced SEVERE vibration and noise inside the cabin. After replacing the mount,(very messy job due to oil leaks) it was pure bliss.

You may have the following problems: New mount is not properly tightened; The driveshaft support bearing and/or u-joints may be damaged from the misalignment of the old mount; If you removed the driveshaft(for any reason), the yokes may not be properly aligned. They should be in line with each other.

    Hope this is of assistance.

Its possible one of the other mounts is bad, and as you suspect, probably the right side, the one the oil pours onto and destroys.
Could be it separated as the engine was pushed around when replacing the rear mount.
Also can be that the exhaust now contacts the body, or the bell housing or something, since it runs at a slightly different angle. Seen that happen before. Look for any evidence that something is contacting the body or frame.

    Good luck!
