Every time I clean my back window I have to Grab someone to pull the Headrests Up as I lay in the Trunk pulling the white tabs. Is there a one man operation system that I'm missing?

Question 2: Over the years I managed to break one of those pull tabs so I have to pull the locking mechanism with a Screwdriver. Do those White plastic Headrest brackets just pull up out of the rear deck?

I thought I'd done this once before, but could not remember exactly how. This morning I crawled in the trunk of my daughter's 91 with a flat bladed screwdriver. She saw out the window, and had all sorts of ideas about why I was inside her car that way.

Using the screwdriver to gently pry upward the tube that is the headrest stalk against the nylon stop, I released the catch. Did this on both sides without having trouble with them sliding back down and locking again, and I did not have to be careful of jarring them as I climbed back out and into the back seat to pull the headrests out.

All told, about two minutes, thanks to a clean empty trunk compartment, rare in her case.

I suppose if someone had greased the posts up well, this technique would require adding something to wedge it up.

For that reason I decided not to put them back in, and I like it better that way. Easier to clean the rear window shield, and no obstructed view without the headrest. As you know older models did not have rear headrests. I am now looking for some small round pieces of felt to cover the 4 holes.

Maybe HomeDepot or the Likes has Chair bottoms that are nice and black round plastic that will fit in there and make it look like the other black Plugs that are on the rear deck.

It's not that big of a deal but it just seems like whenever you are there and have the time, There is no one around to grab the Rests for you.

I have the same experience that you have; can't do it with only one person. I don't take them off to clean the back window, though....
