Sun Visor 444 measurements Gangster cap 444-544

I just returned from Hershey and the ultimate old car flea market. Not much Volvo but I was looking for a "Baseball Cap" sun visor and found that this was a good place to find one. What I am looking for is some measurements for a Volvo one so I can cut down a USA one to fit. They slide together so it will look fine but what is the Width at the center? The ones for American cars from the 40's look mighty big when off the car. Does anybody have a 444 with an outside visor and a ruler?

Thanks

Christopher

Yes, I'll give you the measurements on Monday. In the meantime, here's a closeup of mine. The center of the sun visor has an arm that is bolted to the window separator on your 444. The side brackets fit between the top of the door edge and the water gutter. A set of better pictures will help you to determine how you will fit your "cap".

Whats with them lights on the top of the roof? Was yours originally a public service vehicle of some sort?

Actually, every Swedish domestic PV444 from the B model until the D had the option of having either the Fixlight Takgöken (The roof fellow) or the other Fix "B" pillar signal lights. There were no signal lights incorporated in the rear brake lights and none below the front headlights. The Swedes detested this device and aptly called it the "gök" which is Swedish for "cuckoo". Even the Dutch call it the "koekoek". It leaked, didn't allow for a roof rack and if used alone, must have been hard to recognize in bad weather!. Apparently it was installed on almost all vehicles in Sweden during the period; taxis, fire trucks, etc... Finally around January 1953, it was dropped and not reinstated. Hope I have all the Swedish facts correct?

Well it sure is cool... I've seen the lights under the rain gutter on the sides, but the roof light is new to me.

Thanks
