Hmm.... I'll have to check, but I'm assuming the dash board from which I got my Swedish emblems has the windshield warsher position, but not the 'spoln' designation... but maybe I'm wrong.. didn't check the switch.

What does 'spoln' mean? Was there an option with the wipers?

The later amazons have a three-position wiper switch: slow, fast, fast+washer

I'm not sure there was an option - but as you know, the third pull of the switch gives windscreen-washer - "Spoln" is swedish for "the windscreen-washer liquid"..
Actually, I'm a little sure of that the windscreen-washer was not standard in the first model years!.. Gotta find out!

You're probably right - I hadn't noticed that before but I have a photo of a 1958 Amazon in the Volvo Museum and although its kind of hard to see I think that there are no nozzles on the bonnet.

I tried attaching the picture but its too big - I'll have a go at reducing it tomorrow.

Early (-'65) Amazons have the washer nozzles right next to the wiper posts on the body.

Now I see them - I should have looked closer...
