'90 760 anti theft device... didn't get a book with the wagon... the light blinks with the car shut down.. 700

.. the light is on the radio panel(red).is it just for show, or does it have an obnoxious noisemaker attached?. i don't see any fuses with an appropriate label. i don't want to turn into another pain in the butt yuppie.

It blinks so that passing ne'er do wells are reminded the your car has an anti-theft device in the radio. That means that should someone yank the radio from the dash and eventually try to use it, they'll be out of luck. The radio requires a code, which a Volvo dealer will give out, but only with proof that the car it came from is yours. In practice, they're somewhat more lenient than that. But you should get the code from the dealer, because the anti-theft protection is enacted when the power to the radio is shut off, so disconnecting the battery strap will render your radio silent. You'll have to enter the code to get it to work. But don't worry--no alarm will sound. Your car has no alarm/protection device beyone the very effective steering column lock.
