Ouch, got 90 740T back from shop after running over big rock 700

Right around 2K to fix everything, plus maybe $90 for gas for the big friendly red Ram pickup truck with the hemi I had for 9 days! Maybe 9mpg around town and average 16 on the beltway for 75mi round trip commute. Still, I can understand why people drive the big trucks...that thing honks when you step on it and people just natcherly move over...hmmmmmm?

That rock or whatever it was tore out the oil pan, the pump, the trans crossmember, the AT trans pan (small hole there), bent the center bearing support crossmember, and cracked the tailshaft housing on the trans!!

Car runs fine, used to stink from oil on the underside (just sent it through the carwash and they did the bottom!).

On the theory that it's an ill wind that blows no good, I noticed while it was up on the lift that the rear aftermarket twin pipes tip were rusting out inside and the connecting pipe from the volvo over-axle pipe to the twin tips had rusted out at the clamp...barely hanging on by a bit of metal. Ripped it off with bare hand (eh macho!) and ordered new IPD sport exhaust.

Putting in the IPD cat-back sport exhaust today...the pipes are stainless but it appears the clamps and hangers and the muffler itself (stuff from TME Sweden) are not. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. I have recently installed a lifetime guaranteed stainless steel exhaust system on the Saab but haven't been able to find one for the Volvo. Still, the Saab exhaust was around $650 and this TME exhaust was about $320 delivered. If the TME muffler lasts as long as the stock volvo muffler it ought to give me 5 years or more. By that time I'll either have blown the engine up or sold the car.
