Having installed the 740T Eggcrate grille in my 240, I'm naturally interested in anyone else who has done this mod. This picture both inspired me to do the mod and encouraged me that it would look good and unique. However, up until recently, that one picture was the only one I had ever seen of that car.

Just now, though, I found this collection of pictures (notice the same white 240 partially obscured) from the "West Chester, PA, GTG" gathering of Volvos, which took place just about two years ago. Is there anyone who went to this show and saw this Brick? Have you seen any other Bricks with non-standard but authentic grilles?

      While my coupe will stay original, I wouldn't mind setting my turbo sedan up like the 2nd one down, complete with the wipers and everything. Junkyard in Germany, here i come... well, it might have to wait a year or five.

      And that ambulance on your profile pic reminds me a lot of the Volvo cop cars I used to see in downtown Tacoma.

          The last 2 pictures have 240's with the old style bumpers and mirrors. And the rear body side lights like the old 240's. Does that mean that the police departments in Sweden aren't required to buy new cars every few years? If so, those cars probably have more miles on them than anyone has on this board.

    If it's the white one in the 2nd pic that looks like a 700 grill on the later 240. That looks good from a bit away but up close you can tell fairly easily the grill was not made for the car. The grill Bob has offered a pic of is better, I got one for my '88 but haven't put it on except for a trial fit, the beak of the grill hangs over a bit.

      George, I just had the same thing happen. You can get around it by doing a right click on the link and selecting "Copy Shortcut." Then paste the URL into the address bar and it should get you there. Next time I tried the link it went right to the pic.

        Nice trick with the link, yep it's a 700 grill, anyone who wants that look can do it for ~$25 and a few screws.

          Did they ever make a wider egg crate style grill for the two headlight cars? I would swear I saw an older 245 that had such a grill a year or so ago but it may just be my overactive imagination.

            Not here in the states that I'm aware of, the grill on your '80 is about the closest there is.

      I do seem to recall seeing a picture of another Eggcrate 240--thanks for sending it. I was wondering, though, if anyone else had seen this particular white 240, or if anyone had done other modifications on different-style grilles.
