Distributor Stuck, Can't Adjust Timing 200 1980

On my 1980 242 DL, my timing was off. I loosened the 12 mm bolt holding the distributor adjusting area, but couldn't move the distributor. The bolt was almost off. I used a hammer and pipe on the base of the distrubot to no avail. I also sprayed carburetor cleaner over the area of the bolt/adjusting hole, to no avail. In addition, I pushed and pulled the distributor to loosen it.

run the car to temp for as long as possible, then spray the dist base with pb blaster or something like. it may take a while but it's worth it. i've had to chisel a dist out of a block before. take your time. good luck, chuck.

It is a common problem. Avoid hitting the base bracket as it is made of a brittle alloy.

Try gripping the base with channel locks and turn.

Not carb cleaner, spray PB Blaster. Once or twice a day, and in 3 days, it'll be loose as a goose!
