selector shaft seals install, 92 245 tranny--what to know critically? 200


I'm about to replace my 92 245's tranny selector shaft seals, both sides.

first time doing this.

any recommendations?
anything that's needed to know?
do i need special seal tools?

    The right side, you will need to remove exhuast to get to the seal.

    You can slide a small screw driver or a stiff paper clip to remove the old seal. Careful not to scretch the mating surface.

    When installing, use small socket.

    Just the standard precautions - don't gouge up the casing or shaft removing the old seal. Wipe everything clean before sliding the new one on. A tiny bit of grease rubbed on the shaft will help the new one slide on.

      Thanks Chris, i got the bushings today, pretty cheap from volvo dealer.

      i did get some degreaser and some compressed air in a can. will do the job tomorrow.
