got a new 142 140-160

went and got my new 142 today. it's a 73. it runs great. after driving a 140 with a toasted m40 its great to drive one with a tight trans. so i noticed the clutch slipping a little today. i will try and adjust it tommorow and hope that fixes it. if it doesn't ,i will have to replace it eventualy.
here are the questions i have.

1 do i have a 6 or 8 bolt crank? i have a lightend balanced flywheel and new clutch for a 8 bolt crank.

2 will a flywheel and clutch out of a turbo 240 work ? assuming its an 8 bolt. i have one of those also.

here are a couple of pics of it. thanks

    I believe the turbo has a different clutch. I'm selling a B18/B20
clutch on ebay now and my info is that it will fit non-turbo B21, etc
    up to 1987.

If it is the original engine it will be 6-bolt flywheel mount.

Can't answer your questions but wanted to say that's a great looking 142.

Looks like a late 240 flush mounted windscreen fitted. Sort of makes me miss mine but I didn't have the resources to properly restore her at the time.

Good luck with it. Keep 'em rolling!

    If it's a stock motor, it's a 6-bolt.

I have also today picked up a 1970 142S with the chrome grill and GT dash panel ie rev counter and speedo side by side. Very tight and good long lever gearchange. The engine had not been started for 6 months but a good battery, new fuel and a spark plug clean and it started first time - great! Needs work on the body side but pretty solid.
