Why is Autozone/Checker heater core so inexpensive compared to FCP? 200 1986

It's only $40 compared to $94. The brand is GDI or GO/DAN (same thing, I assume), FCP has four seasons. Is there a coolant compatibility issue? Size mismatch? Hose routing issue? I don't want to go the cheap (and more convenient with local pickup) route if it won't last or work/fit properly. Thanks for your advice/opinions.

PS - the heat smells like coolant - I'm getting a headache and my girlfriend doesn't want to ride in my car anymore.

I asked a local AZ manager why their parts for volvos or mercedes were so expensive and was told that it was because these were items that AZ didn't even stock in their warehouses and because of the special order nature of it, they were;nt in the same pricing deal as their chevy etc parts.
I'd trust the parts from FCP first.

4 Seasons is made by Hayden. All Hayden makes are oil, Trans, Intercoolers and Heater cores. Most likely not US, maybe Mexico or Asia/East Europe.
4 Seasons and Hayden are part of Standard Motor Products, a well known and reputable firm, 4 Seasons is biggest brand of Aftermarket AC units in US under several names.
Just be smart and examine the part carefully upon receipt. Most makers put a styrofoam/cardboard shell around the ends where the tubing exits the rad but not the fin face. And is #1 break point in shipping, #2 is FU'ed fins or poke thru of box and fins/tube.

On the other hand, FCP has a rep for standing behond their sales as well.

Given the difficulty of removing this component, I would go with a branded and guaranteed quality component. Four Seasons is a well-known brand.
