1898 760 steering wheel unlocking 700 1989

how do i unlock the steering wheel without a key??
lost the key, can get one from dealer of have one made
got ignition switch out, started motor, now need to unlock steering wheel
any suggestions will be helpful.

cant pull the column, dont have the tools or know how

    Well, I don't know the 760 ignition but if it is anything like the 740, it has some sort a little catch that needs to be pushed in before the key is turned in order to unlock the steering column. While I don't know how it works on the 760, I bet that if you took the cylinder (did you punch it out), emptied out the tumblers, and then put it back in, you could work it with any key because it would push the catch but there wouldn't be any tumblers to get stuck.


    Wait, after re-reading the post, it sounds as though you took out the entire ignition switch. So, try to find any mechanical parts that went between the steering column and the ignition. Then just push and pull them until it unlocks. Or, pull the cover off the steering column, find where the lock is, and disable it.
