Somebody snipe me.... 140-160 1974

Anybody have any technical opinions on these wheels?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7925192985&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

I'm thinking higher profile 14 inch tires might be better for ride and load than my 165/15's, and maybe cheaper. Other than that they look like a vintage Campy wheel.

If they're the coolest thing on the planet, and somebody snipes them from me, well then I won't tell about the large and hidden vintage Volvo boneyard I recently found and I'll get even cooler stuff there.

Yes they will be better than 165/15's if cost is an issue then you need to get a very popular tyre size, wider tyres are the norm now, also on 14 inch rims to need to run at least 205/70-14 to get reasonable gearing -- check to see if the rims are at least 6 inchs wide to run these tyres.

He reported that they were 5.5 inches. I bide my time. There's a derelict looking 122 with Panasports on the way home... Depends on year.

Hell, even handling can improve with a 14", since you'd be putting wider rubber with a lower profile (like 195/70/14) on it.

IMHO, it definitely locks the car into the 70's look. Personally, I think Corona's with small caps or mesh wheels look good on a later 140-series.

Great looking car, Kane. Mine looks just like that (74 144DL). How did you get the front air-dam attached and from which model is that from?

Air dam ... 140-160 1974

Thanks. It's amazing how from a more than a few feet and with low resolution that the Alaskan rust disappers. :)

The air dam is from an early 240, though you might be able to make a later one fit too. It's mounted with a combo of nuts/bolts through the commando bumper and zip ties.

Air dam ... 140-160 1974

yes, very good look. I had put a '85 240 air dam on a '68 144 and it looked very cool.
As far as the tires, I used a 240Turbo Vigra clone I got from IPD called Penta Sport, which was a 14 x 6" wheel. This is a wonderfull handling combo when you put 205/60-14's on it. Combine it with R-Sport progressive springs, shocks and sway bars, it handles like a Porsche.
You'll have to take a grinder to the front calipers to make the wheels fit without rubbing.
